Do You Take Good Care of Your Money?

Do you have a bill that is damaged like this? Most people would say that it will not be used as money anymore, yet it is still circulating in the market places and jeepneys. This kind of money should be surrendered to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) to be exchanged with a conditioned bill. It is true that teared bill cannot be accepted anymore, but since the country is in crisis, most of us would just reattach the teared part of the money with a scotch tape. It is very funny to think of our money with a scotch tape, a money being repaired. I guess, many people would think that repairing the money will be much easier than bringing it to the BSP. It is just a way of practicality among Filipinos.

Pilipinas = Philippines or Philippine?

As a Filipino, our country's name is Pilipinas in Pilipino. However, something confuses me. If we are going to translate it to English, is it Philippines or Philippine?

Some associations in the country put the name of our country to symbolize that it's from the Philippines. Example, PNA (Philippine Nurses Association), where's the "s" in the Philippines? Another example, PAMET (Philippine Association of Medical Technologists), where's the "s" again?

Those examples I've given are only a few of those associations or organizations that neglects the letter "s". Is it bad to put it like this, NAP (Nurses Association of the Philippines) or METAP (Medical Technologists Association of the Philippines). See? Is it good enough?

I guess, it's the issue of wanting to 'cut the name short'. As I've observed, if 'Philippines' is to be put as a name the word "the" comes first. For me, it creates class in mentioning our country and it's the most appropriate. If the name of the organization signifies it to this country "of the" is added before the Philippines. It lengthens with 5 letters and 2 spaces between words.

Another point, it murders the name of our country neglecting the letter "s" at times. I think that's why our country has no unity because it has a lot of names. What do you think?
